The Nation’s Newest Terminal has Arrived – Minot International Airport (MOT)

2.29.16

Minot, North Dakota – Chrysalis’ new terminal transition and activation team has successfully contributed to an extremely smooth opening for the new Minot International Airport terminal. We would like to welcome you to the nation’s newest airport terminal.

From KXNews in Minot, North Dakota:

A new, $43 million airport terminal is officially open in Minot.
The new facility launched its inaugural flight at 5am.
The Minot Area Chamber of Commerce helped christen the facility with a ribbon cutting as the first passengers headed down the jet bridge to board the flight.

Director Andrew Solsvig says it’s one of the most modern terminal buildings in the country with some of the newest technology and spaciousness in mind for travelers.

(Andrew Solsvig, Director Minot International Airport) “It’s great to see their smiles. There’s a lot of positive energy going on right now. I think people walk through the doors and take a look around, they’re excited to fly out of here.”

(Lee Staab, Minot City Manager) “It’s great to see people here. As the airport opens on its first day, there was a little bit of a hectic schedule last night, but we got everybody over here on time. All reports are that everything went well and everybody is happy. Folks that are here on the first flight are just pleased to be a part of this historic event.”

The new facility replaces the 25-year-old terminal that had become cramped for parking and for the number of flights.

A study released in January gave a recommendation that the former airport terminal should be torn down.

The study said the $450 thousand cost of demolition would likely be paid by federal funds and save the city about $750 thousand to remodel the building.
