Sacramento International Airport (SMF) — Airport Expansion

Chrysalis Global is supporting Sacramento International Airport (SMF) as part of the SMForward capital renewal program, providing ORAT-focused stakeholder coordination and operational readiness support across multiple concurrent projects. The bold program includes a new pedestrian walkway, a state-of-the-art Parking Garage at Terminal B, an expansion to Concourse B, and a new Terminal A Exit Road, with work spanning both construction and design phases. SMF announced the historic capital program after reaching record-setting passenger traffic in the post-pandemic travel environment. In addition to those projects, the ambitious expansion will add a consolidated rental car facility and additional features to enhance the travel experience for millions of visitors to California's capital city. The airport and its 11 domestic and international carriers serving 200 daily nonstop flights to 52 different destinations generate more than $4 billion in economic impact each year. Chrysalis operates within the SMForward Executive Program Management structure, helping ensure that project decisions translate into workable day-one operations for the airport, its tenants, and its stakeholders. In practice, the Chrysalis team maintains and manages a detailed project action plan that tracks operational issues, assigns owners, documents decisions, and preserves a clear history of communications and outcomes, while also providing stakeholder coordination, operationally focused design reviews centered on real-world functionality, and on-site validations to confirm conditions, resolve conflicts, and support readiness activities leading into training and activation.
